Every 3 minutes, a child is born somewhere in the world with a cleft lip or cleft palate.
There are approximately 2,000 babies born yearly with a cleft lip or cleft palate. This statistic does not include the hill tribes and refugee populations living in Thailand with unknown numbers.
- Operation Smile Thailand to conduct an average of 10 – 12 surgical missions per year. Every years Operation Smile Thailand has performed more than 1,000 free surgeries.
- In as little as 45 minutes, one cleft surgery can change a child’s life forever.
- A cleft lip or cleft palate operation costs approximately 25,000 – 30,000 THB.

Post-Operative Care
Each case of facial deformity is unique, and some complex cases may require extra care such as multiple operations and the use of more specialized equipment that is available only in Bangkok. We aim to support as many of these special cases as we can.
To provide complete post-operative care, we also organize speech camps. Free speech therapy and training is provided to patients, along with their parents, who have had cleft lip and/or cleft palate surgeries. Children whose cleft lip and cleft palate are surgically corrected may still exhibit speech impediments; the therapy helps them heal fully and normalize their speech as much as possible.
Medical Equipment and Supplies
To ensure the safety and quality of care for every Operation Smile patient around the world, we set global policies for medical treatment, medical equipment and supplies. We also train our in-country medical volunteers and credential them in order to provide the safest surgeries in accordance with global medical standards.

International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC)
The International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC) is an annual, week-long program that brings together high school and university students from around the world. The goal is to inspire them to become advocates for children born with cleft lip and cleft palate. The ISLC focuses on:
- Inspiring youth to support Operation Smile’s mission of delivering care for children with cleft conditions.
- Cultivating future global health advocates dedicated to improving children’s lives.
ISLC empowers youth to advocate for children with cleft conditions, equipping them with knowledge and skills to build a global network that drives lasting change and support.

มูลนิธิสร้างรอยยิ้ม ประเทศไทยร่วมกับสถาบันการศึกษาต่าง ๆ เปิดชมรมเพื่อปลูกฝังให้เยาวชนมีจิตอาสา และพัฒนาภาวะความรับผิดชอบและสร้างความเป็นผู้นำให้แก่เยาวชน จากการเริ่มต้นในปี พ.ศ. 2550 ปัจจุบันมีโรงเรียนเข้าร่วมมากกว่า 17 โรงเรียน
เข้าร่วมเป็นสมาชิกของมูลนิธิสร้างรอยยิ้ม ประเทศไทย เด็กนักเรียนเหล่านี้นอกจากจะร่วมออกหน่วยในฐานะอาสาสมัครดูแลผู้ป่วยแล้ว ยังมีหน้าที่หลักในการช่วยสร้างการรับรู้ให้แก่มูลนิธิฯ และจัดกิจกรรมระดมทุน ผ่านกิจกรรมภายในและภายนอกโรงเรียน
