aby Jitakorn was born with a cleft lip. The mother was at home with other family members but the father works in construction during the day and comes to visit at night. Originally the mother felt very guilty – maybe she worked too hard, didn’t eat the right food.
Parents were informed about the Operation Smile mission via the hospital outreach program. Additionally, the hospital called to confirm the mission dates.
During the screening the mother saw many other children with the same condition and now is able to better accept her baby. She is focused on the present, not trying to think about what may be in store for her child’s future, but just hoping for a normal life.
